Birdsville Mark11

It's 14th June.
John has been determined to take another trip to the Birdsville Races. Now that the 4WD Toyota is fixed he is busy preparing.

He has decided that he wants to upgrade the suspension on the van so he has bought these "you beaut" springy things - like the buses have only these are for caravans and the like. So every other day he is out under the caravan putting them in. He is nearly finished one side and will soon begin the other side. Also our hot water system needed a new element so that also is pulled to bits now awaiting reconnection. When this is all taken care of I am going to look at new curtains.

Enid Downing may fly down from Cairns and will travel up with us. Joe, John's brother from Maleny, and his friend June, may meet us in Charleville and also travel the last stretch with us. Alysone and my son Johnny B are planning to arrive in Birdsville sometime on Thursday after driving down from the Isa.

We plan to leave Brissie on or about the 25th August and after lunching at Chinchilla we will book into a park at Mitchell for a couple of nights. Then after stopping for lunch in the park at Charleville we will stop the night ar Quilpie Caravan Park. After stopping on the banks of the Cooper for 3 nights or so will continue through Windorah to Birdsville. John and I went to the Caravan and Camping Show at the Exhibition grounds on Friday the 10th June and we bought a Honda generator so we will be living in style on the Cooper.

At Birdsville we will park the van at the Race Track where we will share the site with George Tipping and his crew and his horses that he will have entered into some of the races during the 2 days of racing on the Friday,2nd. September and the Saturday,3rd September.
